Beautiful video about the priesthood

June 26, 2007 | 8 comments

I just found this stunning video about the Catholic priesthood over at the Deacon’s Bench and couldn’t wait until my Friday Favorites to post it. I’m not sure if this is some pregnancy hormone thing or what, but Part II left me crying like a baby. Either these are some beautiful videos or I’m really overdue for a nap. 🙂

Part I:

Part II:

You know, Jen, this video was shown at my discernment retreat in March and it helped me decide that, if the diocese accepts me this year, even though I have to drain my retirement to go, I would go.

    The pearl of great price.

If you watch this video and don’t want to be a priest, you’re not Catholic! 🙂

While the project was financed from the USCCB Secretariat for Vocations, it was produced by Joe Campos and Grassroots Films.

He is currently working on a pro-life film, and has a parallel to Fishers of Men for women’s religious in the works as well.

    Check out their website at:

The whole story of the production company is amazing in itself.

    Wow…that was absolutely beautiful.

Grassroots Films does a lot of work with the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal (Fr Groeschel).

They have more videos on YouTube…

Yeah, Dom pointed this film out to me a while back and then he ordered a couple of copies of the DVD. We gave one to our pastor and kept one for us. But even before we got the dvd, I watched it over and over again and cried every time. You used to be able to watch the whole thing at the USCCB website. Maybe you still can. But it’s good that they’ve got it up on You Tube. It can grab a much bigger audience.

    Thanks for sharing!

no nap needed, i cried too.

Part One: I was okay until I saw JPII near the end. Tears (again). Man, I wonder sometimes if it will ever get to the point when I don’t cry at all at the sight of him.

Part Two: I was not crying until the priest said, “Matthew, your sins are forgiven.” Jen, the thought of the beautiful Sacrament of Confession was so overwhelming at that moment. The thought that priests prepare souls for death and forgive our sins for us. Oh, God, thank You for this gift!!!

Of course, I’m sleep-deprived, too, but I know that the film this company did for the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal – the one with the Eucharistic procession through the streets of NYC – makes me cry bucketloads of tears. 🙂
