An interview about faith and motherhood

May 26, 2009 | 5 comments

I recently had the pleasure of doing an interview with Steve and Candice Watters of the Start Your Family blog on the topic of faith and motherhood. It was an honor to be asked to participate in this interview series since I’ve enjoyed reading their discussions with other people so much (I highly recommend checking it out — you can see them all here). Some of the questions I answered were:

  • “How has God revealed himself to you through your children?”
  • “What surprised you most about becoming a mom?”
  • “What have you learned through the highs and lows of starting a family?”

Check out the interview here!

I enjoyed your interview very much! There is no end to the joy God has in store for us… and the surprises are the best!

Keep up the good work of telling people what a blessing children are!

HA! God has a sense of humor, I read your comment about “setting aside the spreadsheets” and trusting Him and immediately thought of the one I made a couple days ago to analyze a decision I had to make 🙂

Loved your answers, but I have to say I’m a little distracted by how fabulous your hair color looks. 😉

Great interview. Your comment about the domestic church and how you have not implemented a lot of the ideas you want to applies to many families but I bet you are having a greater impression than you think. Adults think the domestic church should mirror the parish, well organized services with a beautiful liturgy that happens at the same time every day. Young children experience things so differently.

Example: on our 7th wedding anniversary I set up a get away weekend for my wife and me. This was repeated on our 8th anniversary. That’s it. 2 weekends in 26 years separated by 12 months. Our oldest was 5 at the time of the first one. One day when he was in high school he said to us “remember when you used to go to a hotel every weekend just to be alone”

Trust that you are leading a domestic church. Those daily prayers will bear fruit. Keep up the good work.
