I am thrilled to announce that we have a final book cover for my next book, called One Beautiful Dream: The Rollicking Tale of Personal Passions, Family Chaos, and Saying Yes to Them Both that will be out from Zondervan next year! My email friends got the first glimpse (I always share big news with them first — which is why you should sign up!) and now I’m ready to share it with everyone else.
The book is a humorous memoir that chronicles what I learned about work, family, and pursuing personal passions in the midst of having six babies and eight years. It’s an intimate look at the struggles I went through while trying to find some way to use my God-given gifts while still putting my family first.
I gave Zondervan a tall order for the cover: I told the team that I wanted something that conveyed both whimsey and humor, failure and hope. I wanted people to see the cover and get that this is a story by someone who shares a lot of really embarrassing moments but also takes a serious look at at real issues in the process.
We went through a bunch of different options and had multiple meetings about how to convey so many seemingly contradictory elements in one cover. I had begun to think that maybe I had asked for the impossible in terms of cover design.
And then they sent me this final option, and I laughed out of surprise and relief when I saw it. Somehow, they managed to wrap all of that up into one image that will be the cover for One Beautiful Dream:
I’m so excited to share this story with you, especially now that the book has such a fun cover! I’m in the thick of final revisions and struggling with pulling it all together, so if you could say a prayer for me I would really appreciate it.
We’ll have some pre-order goodies to give away soon, so stay tuned for that! Meanwhile, I’m going to get back to work so that I can make this story one that you’ll truly enjoy.
